Colossians 3:16-17
“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

Most Christians today tend to be quick in prayers, asking God to do things for them and give them things, but are short when it comes to Thanksgiving. The kind I want to remind you about today is not when we go to church and the pastor or the worship leader says “someone gives God the glory” or “someone gives God thanks today” and we say some nice words with deep emotion.

It is about being thankful as a lifestyle. What do you say to God when you wake up? What do you say to God when you have electricity to do the cooking, etc.? When you come back in the evening from work, from being tired and frustrated by experiences on the job and traffic, what are the immediate words that roll off your lips?

There is every opportunity around us from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same to show our appreciation to God for His kindness and goodness.

When was the last time you shared testimony with someone concerning God’s goodness to you? How many jokes have you shared with people on your phone this week? Compare that to the testimonies you have shared? Nothing comes close to a heart of gratitude. Be a thankful Christian.

1. Take time to thank God for all He has done for you in the past week. Honor Him for His faithfulness.
2. Ask God to give you a heart of gratitude to always thank Him, even in those things you take for granted.
3. Father, please help me; let thanksgiving and appreciation for You spring from me like rivers of living water.

I declare today that I truly owe my life to God. His grace has taken me through life. My birth was a miracle. My development is a miracle. My faith in God is a gift of His grace and my confidence to face the future comes from His power at work in my life. I am a product of God’s grace and I am not ashamed to say that. I declare that Elohim will uphold, shield and provide for me all the days of my life in the name of Jesus.
