28 Mar WHAT’S YOUR REQUEST?
5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Many of us know prayer as asking and receiving. Jesus commands us to ask whatever we will in His name and it shall be granted by our heavenly Father. He even drew the attention of His disciples to the fact that hitherto they had asked nothing in His name. When it comes to asking and receiving from God it is an open check. Whatever you see in the Scriptures, it is an open check. God expects you to fill in the blanks.
Another opportunity to fill in the blanks is God’s statement “open our mouth wide and I will fill it”. It means to ask whatever you will. The important observation to make in God’s open check system is that it is not an open, open check. Whatever you ask God for must be within the confines of His word. What is honorable is what will be honored. That is how God’s open check operates. The foundational issue is the content of your asking. Is it God-centered?
You and I know for example, that if you ask God for someone’s property, He will not give it to you because that amounts to covetousness. To avoid making a shipwreck of our faith in His word, God gives us further guidelines in this business of asking and receiving – asking according to His will. Learn to pray according to God’s will.
1. Thank God for His promise to answer all we ask through Christ our Lord.
2. Pray for wisdom and guidance, that your asking will meet all of God’s conditions, particularly His will in any situation.
3. Father, please help me to walk in your ways so my asking will be exactly according to Your will in Jesus’ name.
I declare that I am privileged to have an open check from God. I fill this check with the knowledge that God owns all things and knows all my needs. Henceforth, the things that I ask God for shall be according to His will. The Holy Ghost will help me. I will not ask amiss; my asking will be on target and it shall be granted in the name of Jesus.
