23 Mar CANNOT BE MOVED, CANNOT BE SHAKEN
24 Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.26 And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
It is not uncommon to find buildings that have lasted hundreds of years. They may not look so modern, they may not have today’s glass windows and all the finesse of modern architecture; yet one thing is certain. They are strong and have endured years of changing climatic conditions. I am sure if you ask any architect for an explanation, they will tell you of the foundations of those buildings and probably the materials that were used in their construction.
What then do we say about our lives? Think about your life as a building. Ask yourself how many years your life is likely to last. This is not just about your physical structure but your whole person, spirit, soul and body. As you think about that, factor in what Jesus taught in today’s passage.
Jesus speaks of His words as a good foundation and good building material for anyone who is conscious of the storms of this life. He was emphatic about that. Building with materials other than His words will definitely result in a building that cannot stand the test of time. Build on Jesus’ words and your life cannot be shaken or moved by anything that happens in this life. Be wise.
1. Thank God for His words as a foundation for a lasting life of happiness and great success.
2. Pray for the ability to hold onto God’s word and Christian principles for every area of your life.
3. Father, please help me keep Your word in my heart and let it influence all I think or do in this life.
I declare that God’s words are eternal. Jesus described His words as spirit and life and said they will never pass away. Therefore, I choose to build my life on the unchanging, unending, indestructible word of God. I declare by divine enablement I shall not be moved or shaken by anything in this life in the name of Jesus.
