11 Mar GOD’S GLORY IS HIS ALONE
8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
God called Abraham His friend. God boasted about Job being upright and more righteous than any man on earth. He referred to Moses as a meek person to whom He spoke face to face like a man. God had demonstrated over the generations His willingness to come to our level to relate with us. Very often it is possible for us to think that He is at our level, or we have graduated to His level.
There is something we must get clear. In the divine order, there is a hierarchy. There is God, then man, then the rest of God’s creation. God is always above all of us. No one can ever be on the same level as Him. When Jesus was coming to earth, He said “let all the angels of God worship Him” so we know that even Jesus, when He was a man and walked amongst us and walked along the beaches of the Sea of Galilee, He was still the God of Creation. There is the glory of God that no man can ever take upon himself.
Listen to what Jesus said to His hearers when on earth: “Ye are they which justify yourselves before men, but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God. (Luke 16:15)
Whatever is highly exalted amongst men is an abomination to God. Whether you exalt yourself like Nebuchadnezzar did or people exalt you like Herod was before he was eaten up by worms, the truth is the same – be careful if you are becoming a god amongst men. No matter what God uses you to do amongst men, pray for grace to remain humble.
1. Thank God who has honored and exalted you in this life.
2. Ask God for the humility it takes to honor God always in your heart and give Him the glory due Him.
3. Father, please save me from myself and from the people around me so that I do not attempt to take any part of Your glory.
I declare that God is above all and I submit to Him. I humble myself and walk like a man/woman. No matter what He does for me, through me and with me, I still remain a human, under God’s full authority, acknowledging Him at all times. Once it is written and twice I have heard that all power belongs to God; therefore let God be God in the name of Jesus!
