Deuteronomy 24:19-21

“When you reap your harvest in your field and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the alien, for the orphan, and for the widow, in order that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands”. “When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again; it shall be for the alien, for the orphan, and for the widow”. “When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not go over it again; it shall be for the alien, for the orphan, and for the widow”.

Today let me introduce you to the purpose of the great harvest God is bringing your way this year. In simple terms, it is that He is blessing you to be a blessing. Many believers have read this passage and made reference to this principle of God. Definitely you cannot give what you do not have. You must have to give, and God is very much aware of that truth.

Let this understanding inform your attitude to the bumper harvest God is rolling out your way. In this harvest season, for example, you are going to have far more than you need for yourself and your family. So why do you think God will give you far more than you need? Could there be another reason than to make what God has blessed you with available to some of His other children who need it?

It is easy to say “I am blessed to be a blessing”. When it comes to doing it, that is where a lot of people start dragging their feet with a lot of logical and tangible excuses. Nevertheless, greater blessings always comes to those who not only know the principle but also apply it each time they have to.

1. Thank God for considering you a distributor of His good things of this life, and the opportunities He brings your way to honor Him through giving.
2. Ask for a giving heart like that of your heavenly Father; so you will reach out to the needy around you.
3. Father, please help me become like You when it comes to responding to the needs of people around me.

I declare today that I am blessed to be a part of God’s channel of blessings on earth. l purpose today to make all I have available to the needy around me. Henceforth, ‘blessed to be a blessing’ shall no longer be a slogan; I determine by the grace of God to bless people with a part of what God has blessed me with in the name of Jesus.
